The Power Puncher Thermoelectric Cooler Controller is a rugged, full capacity instrument that packs a wallop of up to 120 watts (15 V @ 8 A). It features a linear, DC current source together with proportional and integral (P/I) temperature control. Unlike hybrid controller chips that require users to purchase and install heat sinks, printed circuit boards, and various electrical components, the Power Puncher Thermoelectric Cooler Controller is a Plug & Play device. Some hybrid devices use pulse width modulation as a means of controlling temperature. For applications such as cooling of laser diodes, IR detectors and arrays, CCDs, etc., the adverse effects of RFI noise generated from pulse-width modulated limits its appeal. TEC manufacturers prefer the more effective linear control systems such as that offered in the Power Puncher Thermoelectric Cooler Controller.
